Overview

The 2012 Mazda MAZDA6 has been spruced up with minor updates such as the headlights and the fog lights has been restyled, while the side-view mirrors on the Touring Plus and Grand Touring models now feature integrated turn signals. Mazda has discontinued the base SV trim level and dropped manual transmission availability for the Touring trim. The MAZDA6 being a sedan can easily seat 5 passengers, thanks to the increased leg room in the front cabin and rear passenger room. The Mazda MAZDA6 provides best-in-class cargo space. Fuel economy sees a slight increase for models with automatic transmissions. A few features have been shuffled between trim levels as well. The 2012 Mazda MAZDA6 is available as a four-door front-wheel drive (FWD) sedan only in i and s models in Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims.

Power and performance

Customers can choose between two engines - a 170-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a 272-hp 3.7-liter V6 engine. The 2.5 engine can be teamed with either a six-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic, while the V6 is made exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Body and styling

The 2012 Mazda MAZDA6 features all the aspects of the 2010 model but there has been some minor changes in the headlights and the fog-lights which again has been restyled and the side-view mirrors on the Touring Plus and Grand Touring models now feature integrated turn signals. The 2012 Mazda MAZDA6 gives more to the passengers in the rear in terms of leg, shoulder, and hip room. It is the only vehicle in its class to offer the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System. The available Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System, allows the owner to unlock it without pulling out the keys from the pocket and, once inside, the available push-button start turns on the car ignition. A custom-tuned Bose Premium Centerpoint Surround Sound System with 10-speakers is available along with a voice-activated DVD navigation system and Bluetooth phone and audio capability. Its total cargo volume is 16.6 cubic feet.

Safety Features

Some of the standard safety features of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA6 include a tire pressure monitoring system, anti-lock brakes, anti-theft system, child seat anchors, side-impact and side-curtain airbags, and electronic stability and traction control. A blind spot monitoring system is standard on Touring Plus and Grand Touring trims.
